The fabulous Lady Son
(Yeti Ajasin) with her
powerful voice and muy
caliente Afro-Cuban rumba/
son band salsa rocked
the house this past Saturday
November 13 inside the
legendary Lula Lounge
and Restaurant.
Considered one of the
top voices on today's
Canadian salsa scene,
Yeti Ajasin (A.K.A. Lady
Son) has been making waves
with her powerful vocals,
the band's NuYorican-style
arrangements and original
compositions influenced
by Cuban Guajiro and Son
Montuno.
Canadian
born and raised, Yeti
Ajasin, Lady Son, is the
lead vocalist/director
of Latin fusion band Artículo
Veinte. Music has always
played a huge role in
her life, and Rhythm and
Dance have always been
at Yeti's heart. Of
mixed Italian/Nigerian/Jewish
background, Yeti has had
a diverse upbringing contributing
to her Musical Taste.
Articulo
Veinte (A20) is a truly
Canadian project. The
idea was born here, with
all Canadian musicians
of different cultural
backgrounds, and maintains
an authentic sound true
to the nature of Cuban
Son and NuYorican Salsa.
From Russia, to Japan,
Israel, Nigeria, Mexico,
El Salvador, Peru and
Toronto - A20 represents
the melting pot of this
wonderful city and the
fact that we as Canadians
can also live within the
wonderful sounds of music
from other cultures. The
band is solid in sound,
and has a wonderful working
relationship which is
evident when seeing them
on stage. A20 is warm
and approachable as is
their music.
